| Clove Harmonia Essential Oil is a yellow or brown liquid with a spicy-sweet aroma that is used in foods, perfumes, and medicines. Considered a cure-all for centuries, it has also been used in dentistry as a numbing agent. The clove tree is a slender evergreen native to Southeast Asia and grows up to a height of 40 feet. It has large, bright-green leaves and brilliant red flowers. The long buds appear at the beginning of the rainy season and turn red-brown when they are dried. One of the best-known spices in the world, clove was a precious commodity in ancient cultures. The trade, or lack thereof, is actually cited as the cause of several wars, primarily between the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the French (especially over control of the trees in the Molucca Islands). To ward off infections, cloves were used in pomander oranges studded with clove buds.
